Paralegal Studies

According to the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of paralegals and legal assistants is projected to grow 28 percent between 2008 and 2018; much faster than the average for all occupations. Employers are trying to reduce costs and increase the availability and efficiency of legal services by hiring paralegals to perform tasks once done by lawyers. Paralegals are performing a wider variety of duties, making them more useful to businesses.*

Briarcliffe College offers an Associate in Applied Science degree program in Paralegal Studies. The curriculum is designed to provide students with a background enabling them to assist attorneys in the delivery of legal services. The program has been developed to provide students with a solid base in the discipline that affords a balance of theory and application, while allowing them to explore one or more specialty areas corresponding to their particular career ambitions.
