Information Technology Degree at Briarcliffe College, NY

The Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology program helps students to prepare for careers in one of our country’s fastest growing industries- Information Technology – with equipment and technologies that mirror the realities of the practice and management of computer information and telecommunications. Our program is flexible, allowing the student to pursue specific interests and goals as it prepares the student for positions in programming and software engineering, network design and administration, database development and administration, enterprise systems integration, web administration, technical support, technical writing, and telecommunications.

Students may obtain the Bachelor of Technology degree in Information Technology in either of two concentrations: Computer Networking and Telecommunications (C.N.T.) and in Applied Computer Programming (A.P.C.).

BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY CONCENTRATION IN APPLIED COMPUTER PROGRAMMING (A.C.P.)

The Applied Computer Programming concentration is designed to prepare graduates to enter the work force as IT professionals with a special emphasis in programming, and leading to careers in programming and software engineering, database development and administration, technical support, and technical writing. The concentration includes courses in LAN and WAN software, hardware, interoperability and design. Core courses are designed to provide students with a foundation in other areas including web server administration, programming database application, and microcomputers systems. Special emphasis is placed on programming and database applications. The programming language sequence includes modern object-oriented programming languages such as Visual Basic, JAVA, and C++.
