On September 27, 28, and October 4, 2010,
Alexander’s Angels, a local organization whose mission is to further awareness of the contributions and needs of individuals with Down syndrome and to raise funds for advocacy, service, and research organizations, visited the Patchogue, Bethpage and Queens campuses of Briarcliffe College with panel presentations for our students. This is the fourth year they have presented at our campuses and the first year they have visited the Queens campus. Each presentation was well received by the students and faculty who attended. On October 24, Briarcliffe was also a collaborator for the organization’s 4
th annual Buddy Walk.
On October 17, the Briarcliffe College Striders walked at Jones Beach for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. The team, captained by Jacqueline Naughton, was made up of students, faculty, and staff and raised $967, due in part to the efforts of Lisa Jusino and the Women’s Softball team who sold pink ribbons. Thanks to all who donated, especially Professor Stephen Byers who made a very generous donation in honor of the women in his family.
