Briarcliffe College Participates in Arthritis Walk on May 14th

Under the leadership of Ms. Susan Pescador, Director of Regulatory Operations, and Ms. Cindy Roys, Director of Financial Aid, Briarcliffe College raised $4,846 for the National Arthritis Foundation. The Arthritis Foundation Walk took place at Belmont Lake State Park, Long Island, NY on Saturday, May 14th. The College was pleased to have 7 staff members/friends and Dallas, the puppy, walk for this great cause. Over 75 staff, faculty, students, family and friends made generous contributions towards the College's original goal of $3,500. The original goal has been surpassed by over $1,300!
Ms. Pescador shared her personal story. "When asked to lead the team, I knew very little about arthritis. I remember my grandmother’s hands, as her fingers were arthritic. It is a disease that occurs with 'old age'. That’s what I knew. What I am learning now is that more than 46 million Americans, men, women and children suffer from this disease. It is the nation’s number one cause of disability. Ms. Roys, energetically jumped on board to lead the team for the walk the day that it was announced at the College's All Hands Meeting. She partnered with me to brainstorm and was the inspiration that the College could raise $3,500. She then challenged herself to raise $1,000 on her own. Which she did single handedly!"
