As an online student, you will definitely miss out on many aspects of campus life and living at school. There are positives and negatives to each side, but it is most important for you to do what you feel is best and will allow you to get the most out of your education.
On the downside, online students do miss out on the social aspect of living at school and the ability to make plenty of friends in a short period of time. If you still live at home while taking classes online, you will also miss out on the experience of being away from home, on your own for the first time. You will not have the same feeling of independence as those living on campus.
On the other hand, online students are able to focus on studies much more easily than those living on campus. There are fewer distractions off-campus. You also don’t have to worry about roommate drama, waking up for class on time, and trudging through the hot or cold temperatures to get to class. In online classes, you have a tendency to be able to pace your own learning and do most of it on your own, with less guidance from the professor than you receive in a traditional classroom setting.
