An exhibition of graphic design and fine art will be on display at the Bethpage campus Art Gallery from January 19 through March 4, 2011.
"Ambitious Ambitions" features the work of 12 recently-graduated Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) students ready to enter the workforce and includes a range of mediums including graphic design print campaigns, animation, promotional campaigns, concept art, and fashion design concepts. The new show will culminate in a reception on Thursday, March 3, 2011. The exhibit and reception are open to the general public free-of-charge and parking is available.
Located at 1055 Stewart Avenue in Bethpage, NY, the Biarcliffe College Art Gallery opened a year ago as an opportunity for faculty, professional artists and students to learn from one another and engage the public. The revolving exhibits have showcased painting, sculpture, graphic arts and multimedia projects.
"The exhibits provide a learning opportunity for our students with hands-on workshops, guest speakers and visiting artists, " stated Briarcliffe College President Dr. George Santiago, Jr. "In this new exhibition we are giving our graduates the opportunity to share what they’ve learned with one another and the public."
According to Karyn Cernera Bush, chair of the Graphic Design Department at Briarcliffe College, a Senior Project is required of all graduating BFA students. "Students apply the skills and theories explored during studies toward their degree and this exhibit is an opportunity to see the original work they have produced as a result."
Bush continued, "It is so rewarding to see the students artwork exhibited in a professional gallery setting. The students work extremely hard over the course of the semester to create a passionate, thought-provoking, fully encompassing senior project that is unique to their personal and professional interests and they deserve this moment!"
