In June, Dr. George Santiago, Jr., President of Briarcliffe College, attended a fundraiser for Congressman Tim Bishop (1st District) at the home of media mogul and former Forbes 400 member, Robert Sillerman, and his wife Laura at their New York City home. Guest of honor was former President Bill Clinton.
Dr. Santiago again thanked Congressman Bishop for his inspiring commencement address at Briarcliffe College’s recent graduation in May. Dr. Santiago invited Mr. Bishop to visit the Patchogue campus that is in his district, and he accepted the offer. In addition, Congressman Bishop offered to meet with the leadership of CEC to discuss, and better understand, mutual issues and concern of interest as they relate to proprietary education and pending legislation.
President Clinton spoke to the small gathering of supporters about Congressman Bishop’s accomplishments on Capitol Hill on behalf of the citizens of New York. In addition, President Clinton spoke at length about the major issues facing this country and possible solution including the economy, unemployment, finances, the BP disaster, inequities between countries, and education to name a few.
