Athletics Update: Women's Softball, Baseball Results, and Lacrosse Updates

Women’s Softball Results:

Briarcliffe Softball swept Southern Maine Community College April 16, 2011. Game one score was 11-7 with Ivette Yi-Santiago on the mound with 6 strike outs in 7 innings. Victoria Boschert went 3-4 with 2 doubles, a home run and 1 RBI. Erin Breslin went 3-4 with 2 doubles, a triple and 3 RBI's. Domenica Marsala was 3-5 with a single, 2 doubles and 2 RBI's. Game two score was 20-5.  The winning pitcher, Jillian McGovern had 6 strike outs in 5 innings and went 2-4 with a double and a home run and 3 RBI's. Victoria Boschert went 4-5 with 2 singles, a double and a grand slam and 7 RBI's. Ivette Yi-Santiago had a home run and 3 RBI's. This brings their record to 12-9 and ranked 8th in the USCAA.  Their next home game is this Wednesday at 3:30pm at the PAL Complex.

Baseball Results:

Tough weekend for baseball at Fisher College.

Sat 4/16/2011 Highlights – Joe Russo was excellent getting 5 hits in 7 at bats.  Chris McCabe was 4 for 8.  Sam Braverman pitch 2 innings of shutout relief in game 2.
G1 Loss 7-3
G2 Loss 5-2

Sun 4/17/11 Highlights – Rich Ireland pitched 6 1/3 innings of a 3 hit ball game for the first game.  Joe Solomeno and Sam Braverman each had two hits and an RBI. 
G1 W 7-2
G2 L 3-2

Their overall record is 19-13

Lacrosse Results:

Lacrosse beat Central Connecticut State this past Saturday 27-2.  It was an overall team effort. Their record is 8-0. Their next big game is this Wednesday at Coast Guard Academy at 7pm.   This is one of their biggest rivalries.
