Briarcliffe College Lacrosse
The Briarcliffe lacrosse team is looking to build on last year's success. The Seahawks were seeded number one in the playoffs, after going undefeated in conference play during the season, and made it to the conference championship for the first time in school history.
The team cruised through the semi-final game, beating Coast Guard 15-6, but the championship game, a low scoring defensive battle with Stonehill College, proved to be a different story. After tying the game with just under one minute remaining, the were looking to take the game into overtime, but were stunned when Stonehill scored the game winning goal with just sixteen seconds left in the game.
This year, the Seahawks hope to surpass all expectations and go deep into the national tournament. The MCLA Mag has picked Briarcliffe Lacrosse as the preseason number one and the favorite to win the conference. With a roster is laden with sophomores and freshmen, the Seahawks are getting stronger with numbers, talent, and maturity, which bodes well for the coming season.
