Experience Queens
Long Island City has become one of the most vibrant parts of Queens, NY and has become a major cultural center in recent years. Once known as an industrial area and not accounting for much in the way of New York tourism, much of Long Island City has undergone a dramatic conversion with new residential and commercial uses.
Now home to world-class art galleries, museums, fine dining and shopping, the area extends from the Queens East River waterfront all the way east to 51st/Hobart Street, and from the Brooklyn border at Newtown Creek all the way north again to the East River.
Some of the cultural attractions of Long Island City include the P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, one of the largest museums in the United States dedicated solely to contemporary art, and Socrates Sculpture Park, an outdoor museum park dedicated to large-scale art exhibits.
