Bachelor of Business Administration Degree: Management with a concentration in Health Information Management

As a completion program, the concentration prepares students to enter management and administration realms in healthcare/business setting and serves to enhance the knowledge and skills previously acquired or of those already employed in practical field.

Students pursuing this concentration will be able to focus their studies on the maintenance and care of health data and records. A Healthcare Information Administrator will apply their training in medical terminology, healthcare management, law, ethics, policy, and current issues to provide oversight of health care data collection and reporting systems to assure integrity and availability of the information maintained. The field of health information management supports interactive communication among those in the healthcare industry to improve health and healthcare delivery.

The Health Information Management program is considered a degree completion concentration, and will require a student to have successfully completed an associate’s degree or diploma in medical billing and coding, health information management or be certified practitioner in a related field.

Accreditation

Programmatic Accreditation: The Business Administration program is not programmatically accredited.

Institutional Accreditation: Briarcliffe College is accredited by The Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The commission on Higher Education is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Commission on Higher Education Accreditation.

The New York State Board of Regents also authorizes Briarcliffe to offer Diploma, Associate degree and Bachelor's degree programs.
