Associate of Applied Science Degree Program in Dental Hygiene

The Associate of Applied Science degree in Dental Hygiene is designed for students interested in becoming entry-level dental hygienists qualified for employment opportunities in clinical practice, academia, research and alternative career settings, and advanced education. Graduates of the Dental Hygiene program are eligible to take the National Board Licensure Examinations upon graduation.

The program provides students with a solid foundation and the skills required to succeed in the Dental Hygiene field. Specific goals include educating dental hygienists to be committed to the communities they serve, promoting scholarly research, life-long learning, and a strong academic foundation. Students will be educated to become members of organized dentistry associations and oral healthcare teams in areas inherent to clinical practice, education, research, administration, and educational program development.

Accreditation

Institutional Accreditation: Briarcliffe College is accredited by The Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The commission on Higher Education is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Commission on Higher Education Accreditation.

Programmatic Accreditation: The program in dental hygiene at Briarcliffe College was accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation from 05/2012 to 4/2017

The New York State Board of Regents also authorizes Briarcliffe to offer Diploma, Associate degree and Bachelor's degree programs.
