Undergraduate degrees from Adelphi University and Katharine Gibbs School complete her Studio and Graphic Design educational background. Karyn began her early art education taking extracurricular advanced studio courses at The Cooper Union and intensive design courses at Parsons School of Design in New York City.
Work Experience:
Karyn Cernera Bush has over ten years experience in the commercial Graphic Design field. Some accomplishments include: Art Director and Studio Manager for local artist studio, Pre-press Specialist for local print houses including PIP Printing and American Litho and Graphic Artist/Public Relations personnel for the Art League of Long Island.
In addition to her experience in the Graphic Design field, Karyn has been working as a Fine Art and Design faculty member at colleges including Briarcliffe College, Katharine Gibbs School, Dowling College and local non-profit art studios including Art League of Long Island and the Mills Pond House at Smithtown Arts Council. Classes taught range from traditional studio practice to high-end print design.
In 2006, Karyn received the “Artist in Residence” award at the Alpan Gallery in Huntington, NY. This residency concluded with a three man exhibition showcasing “Homecoming”, her large-scale, conceptual installation. This accomplishment comes in addition to a strong exhibition record in local, Brooklyn and Manhattan based art galleries including her 2006 solo exhibit “An American Dream” located at the Steuben Gallery in Brooklyn, NY.
