Admissions Requirements
In recognition of the diversity of our student population, Briarcliffe College looks at the applicant as a whole. At minimum, an enrolling student must provide documentation of possession of a High School Diploma (meeting New York State regulations), G.E.D., or college degree.
Although not required for admissions, we strongly encourage students to submit national college entrance examination test scores, such as the S.A.T. or A.C.T. Favorable applications for admission may include previous academic achievement, participation in extracurricular activities, work experience, and the demonstration of positive personal characteristics.
Additionally, it is Briarcliffe policy that all newly enrolled, matriculated students be evaluated prior to course registration to determine their readiness to engage in college-level work in English, reading, and mathematics courses required by the institution’s curriculum. Depending on examination results, students may be placed in one or more of three non-credit developmental courses: English Skills Workshop (EG 001), Math Skills Workshop (MA 001), or Developmental Reading (PA 002).
Students can be granted an exemption from taking the placement examination if they meet SAT or Regents examination criteria, or can provide an official transcript from another accredited institution of higher education indicating successful completion of a college level English and math class with a grade of “C” or higher. Students who completed developmental courses at other institutions, but have not completed the appropriate college level course in English Composition and/or mathematics, must complete the placement examination.
At Briarcliffe College, help is never far away, so please feel free to contact us at any time to learn more about our school and programs or to apply for admission.
Please note that not all programs are available at all locations.
