Briarcliffe College attracts New York metro-area and Long Island students at three locations
Briarcliffe College has announced that the New York State Education Department (NYSED) approved an application for designation of 30-30 Thompson Avenue in Long Island City as The Queens Center of Briarcliffe College.
"We are thrilled to offer students who are exploring their choices in higher education with a new option — The Queens Center of Briarcliffe College," stated Briarcliffe College President Dr. George Santiago, Jr. during the announcement. "We’ve received a warm welcome from our Long Island City neighbors and look forward to working with the community to enhance the learning experience of our students."
Briarcliffe College, established in 1966, offers two- and four-year degree programs, emphasizing career preparation and development. The private College has two Long Island locations — the main campus at 1055 Stewart Avenue in Bethpage, Nassau County; and a branch campus at 225 West Main Street in Patchogue, Suffolk County.
In 2005, Briarcliffe College received approval from NYSED to open an extension site in Queens, providing course work toward an Associate of Science (A.S.) Degree in Criminal Justice. The program continues today, with students earning credits toward a degree with career potential in the growing employment areas of policing, security, and corrections.
The Queens Center (formerly the Queens site) of Briarcliffe College will now add new courses this May, providing students with credits toward an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Management.
In the Bethpage campus, Briarcliffe College also offers Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Information Technology, International Business, Management and Marketing.
"Briarcliffe College is noted for its career-focused, specialized education," said Dr. Santiago, Jr. "The Queens Center of Briarcliffe College provides new and returning students, transfer students, and busy New Yorkers seeking to enhance their current careers, a readily accessible location to pursue their goals."
Applications are now being accepted for the Business Administration degree programs as well as the Criminal Justice degree program at The Queens Center of Briarcliffe College. Students taking courses at The Queens Center must attend Briarcliffe College Bethpage campus to complete their degrees.
